Arrived this morning at the Beethovin race and realized I forgot my garmin. After freaking out for a bit, thought it is what it is. Did a little warm up with Rick Poplaski only to discovered he too, forgot his garmin. So I PR'D today!. thought I would ask others. Do you race with or without a garmin?

This is Peyton. Pax never had one and PR'd bigtime. I forgot mine at the Craig and was way off my usual finishing time. It's a love hate thing sometimes.

One of the best parts about today was having the mile markers out there clearly marked, except for 8,which I think was on the bridge. I think that would have been more difficult on todays race had they not been there.

I have to have my garmin but that being said I don't use it for pacing...I just like to know what I ran at the finish. Sometimes if there are no mile markers I will look to see the miles. Congrats on your PR!

My garmin is so picky so I have to go based on feel a lot, but for me, it's always good to have. Especially in the beginning when we all start out super fast! I just can't rely on it for anything but time.

With a race plan, use your watch or GPS device. Running with only inspiration, leave that junk behind, and leave "it" all on the course!

Brooding over an expensive run this morning. A lady in an suv decided to cut me off when I was halfway across a shopping center entrance. It was either body slam her vehicle or make a sharp turn. I spun left, my right foot caught uneven pavement, and I went down, landing on my left knee and the heel of my left palm. I rolled over my left shoulder and grabbed my knee as she drove off without even asking if I needed help getting out of the middle of the road. I finished the run, now I have a sore shoulder. Scraped and sore knee, my favorite running gloves have a run in them, and my Garmin won't even lock satellites. The Garmin quit working at mile 3.03 and I finished my 16 mile run.
